AUSTIN, TEXAS—Austin ISD will hold an official dedication ceremony for the Janis Guerrero Thompson Elementary School on Sunday.

What: Dedication ceremony, featuring remarks by Board President Vince Torres, Trustee Ann Tiech and Director of Construction Management Jeff Kauffman

MEDIA ADVISORY: AISD 2013 Teaching with Google Nexus Project Winners Announced Friday

AUSTIN, Texas—Friday, AISD will announce the recipients of the 2013 Teaching with Google Nexus Project, with surprise visits at their respective schools. Join AISD at Blackshear Elementary School as a teacher is awarded a grant to create stop-motion animation using tablet technology with third through fifth grade students.

Google Awards Teaching with Google Nexus Project Winners

AUSTIN, Texas—Austin ISD has announced four recipients of the 2013 Teaching with Google Nexus Project. Award recipients will receive a classroom set of Google Nexus tablets for their innovative and creative ideas using technology to improve educational outcomes of students.

Media Advisory: Travis High School Participates in No Bullying Week

AUSTIN, TEXAS—Austin ISD’s Travis High School will hold a No Bullying Week from Nov. 4 through Nov. 8 as part of a district-wide effort to raise anti-bullying awareness and support the No Place for Hate initiative.

What: No Bullying Week, including a pep rally on Nov. 4 during lunch. The pep rally features student organizations, cheerleaders, the football team and the Rebelettes dance team.

Palm and Blazier Elementary Schools to Hold Classes Today

Blazier and Palm elementary schools will resume classes today following severe weather that dumped up to 10 inches of rain in some parts of Austin and caused flooding and power outages.

Families of students who attend the campuses were informed by their principals this morning that power to the schools had been restored and regular school hours would  resume today.
