Lanier High School FFA Pet Clinic

The Lanier High School agriculture department hosts its first-ever fall pet vaccination clinic this month, where for $20 families can bring in their pets to receive vaccinations that will be active for a full year. Vaccinations for worming and kennel cough will be available at an addition fee, while medications to combat fleas, ticks and heartworms will be offered at a discounted price. Pets can also receive nail-clipping services for $5 cash. Vaccinations can be paid for by cash, check or credit card.

The pet clinic takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 in the agriculture building at Lanier High School, 1201 Payton Gin Road. No appointments are necessary to attend, and all proceeds benefit the Lanier Future Farmers of America organization. For more information, call 512-238-1093.

AISD Invites Community to Inform; Help Shape Long-term District Plans

AUSTIN, Texas—Austin ISD's Office of Facilities will host a community-wide meeting about the purpose of the district's Facility Master Plan from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Lanier High School Cafeteria, 1201 Payton Gin Road.

Team members will provide a snapshot of the district's profile and financials and review the board-approved Facility Master Plan's guiding principles.

AISD Faculty Invited to Edcamp Austin, Free Participant-driven Conference

AISD faculty members are invited to attend the first ever Edcamp Austin, which is a free ‘un-conference’ hosted at Crockett High School, Saturday Nov. 9.

An unconference is a participant-driven professional development, where teachers (and administration and tech specialists) come together and have organic conversations about the topics they want to learn most about. They are no keynotes or vendors in attendance.

Pease Elementary Named Recorded Texas Historical Landmark

AUSTIN, Texas--Austin ISD's Pease Elementary School will celebrate its designation by the Texas Historical Commission as a Recorded Texas Historical Landmark at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 1106 Rio Grande St.

The school, originally the Austin Graded School House under the Austin Public Free Schools, opened in 1876-the same year Texas adopted its current constitution. Pease is the state's longest continually operating public school.

Perez Elementary School will be Open Monday

AUSTIN, Texas—After working with City of Austin officials, including Austin Energy and the Austin Police Department, to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff members and families affected by last week's storms and flooding in Southeast Austin, AISD has determined Perez Elementary School will be open tomorrow, Monday, Nov. 4.

Principal David Kauffman provided Perez families with an update earlier today through telephone and e-mail notifications in English and Spanish.
