Construction Industry Meeting and Mixer

What: Austin ISD invites architectural and construction (AEC) professionals and supporting vendors to provide feedback on the implementation of past AISD bond programs at an industry mixer from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, at the Toney Burger Activity Center, 3200 Jones Road.

After providing an opportunity for professionals to network the district will offer group breakout sessions to gather feedback, which will inform the implementation of the 2013 Bond Program.

Local food truck vendors will be on site to provide refreshments for purchase.

Dual Language Education for a Transformed World

The AISD Bilingual Department will host a community meeting to focus on the benefits of dual-language education on Austin students.

At the event, Dr. Virginia P. Collier and Wayne P. Thomas will present parents and community members with recent research findings that illustrate the ways in which dual language education programs have been shown to greatly improve education for all students. 

The meeting will take place at Barbara Jordan Elementary School, 6711 Johnny Morris Road.

Refreshments and childcare will be available for participating families.

Dear Team AISD,

It feels as if we were just singing Call Me Maybe at the district's All-Staff Convocation and kicking off the 2012-13 school year with the first day of school. 

And now, as the school year has drawn to a close, I’m happy to share with you that all of your hard work to serve our 86,000 students has not only made a difference—it has made 2012-13 a banner year for Austin ISD.
