Austin, Texas—Members of the public will have an opportunity to address Austin ISD’s Board of Trustees and provide feedback at two public hearings regarding a potential Bond Program in 2013.  The meetings will be followed by a televised special board meeting.

AISD Elementary Students Interview Former Ambassador to Mexico

Austin, TX—This morning, Austin ISD student leaders welcome Antonio Garza, former U.S. ambassador to Mexico, to Pickle Elementary School to discuss international relations, as well as his childhood and career.

Who: Antonio Garza joins Pickle elementary students, including David Lopez and Marlen Rogel, fifth graders who serve as president and vice president of the student council, and Joanna Ritchie, Amanique Stanton and Jessica Urias, second through fourth graders.

AISD Board of Trustees Approves 2013-14 Annual Academic and Facilities Recommendations

The Austin Independent School District’s Board of Trustees voted to approve four Annual Academic and Facilities Recommendations, including expanding and extending dual language programs, continuing the work of Responsive Education Solutions to strengthen graduation pathways, creating an in-district charter at Travis Heights Elementary School and offering students a dynamic approach to learning through the Any Given Child creative learning initiative to move the district from arts-involved to arts-rich.
