Bowie High School Marching Band Places Sixth in National Competition

Members of the Bowie High School marching band placed sixth in a national competition of marching bands in November.  

The band also received the coveted first place prize at the UIL Area D Marching contest--a momentous competition for high school marching bands in Central Texas. While at nationals, the band placed third in 5A bands around the nation.

AISD Hosts State of the District Showcase Tuesday

AUSTIN, TX—The Austin Independent School District invites families and community members to its State of the District Showcase, which will feature Superintendent Meria Carstarphen's annual address and more than 4,300 students from the district's diverse programs in academics, athletics and the arts.

Who: The superintendent and all AISD high school and middle school bands, color guards, dance teams and cheerleaders, as well as the All-city Choir, the district's percussion group, ROTC cadets, representatives from student organizations

Career and Technical Education (CTE) seeks community input with online survey

The AISD Career and Technical Education department is conducting a district-wide parent survey to gain public feedback on CTE programming and program accessibility. The online survey will be available until December 13.

Community Invited to Celebrate 40th Anniversary of Roy Bedichek Middle School

AUSTIN, TX—The Austin Independent School District invites families and community members to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Roy Bedichek Middle School.  

When: 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10

Where: Bedichek Middle School, 6800 Bill Hughes Road

The school, established in 1972, will be open for alumni to tour and reminiscence. There also will be outdoor games, music and food.

Fanny Andrews Elementary 50th Anniversary Celebration

What: Fanny Andrews Early College Prep Elementary will celebrate its 50th Anniversary on Saturday, November 17 from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. We will have a meet and greet from 4:00-4:30, presentation of honored guests and alumni at 4:30 with tours and slide show of our history, and a Barbeque Dinner at 5:00. Tickets for the dinner are $6.00. We will also have games and a 50's Sock Hop! All current and former Andrews staff, parents, alumni, students, and community members are invited to attend.
