St. Elmo Elementary Hosts "Welcome Home" Celebration for Soldier

Austin, TX—Austin ISD's St. Elmo Elementary School students were pen pals and sent care packages during Staff Sergeant Mark Saldana's recent duty in Afghanistan. St. Elmo students will honor SSgt. Saldana with a "Welcome Home" celebration Friday, Mar. 9. The students will celebrate his safe return home with patriotic songs during a special assembly.

Next Class of Early College High School Students Preparing for College

AUSTIN, Texas– Hundreds of Austin students will enter college next fall just as they are entering high school, through the Early College High School (ECHS) program. A partnership between AISD and the Austin Community College District (ACC), ECHS began at Reagan and LBJ high schools this academic year. The initiative creates opportunities for students to earn tuition-free, college credit that also satisfies high school requirements.

Boone Elementary 25th Anniversary Celebration

Boone Elementary will celebrate its 25th Anniversary, from 8 to 10 a.m., Friday, March 9, at on the campus, 8101 Croftwood Drive.

The program will feature performances, music and a quick look back at the past 25 years through a historical presentation. A parade will follow after the anniversary program.

Explore UT Open House

The University of Texas at Austin is hosting its 13th annual Explore UT, a day of events, performances, exhibits, lectures and activities for the entire family from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 3. The event provides an opportunity for visitors to examine the rich and varied programs that are a part of everyday life a university campus.
