Brown Elementary Awarded H-E-B Healthy Campus Grant

AISD's Brown Elementary School is one of 12 statewide recipients of an H-E-B "Healthy Campus" grant. The 3-year, $15,000 grant will help the elementary campus maintain programs that promote a healthy lifestyle, while developing nutrition and activity-based instruction. To earn this grant, Brown demonstrated its robust plan for actively promoting H-E-B’s three pillars of health: food, body and life.

Parenting with Love and Logic Mini Workshop

The Austin Independent School District’s Parent Support Office will be offering a free one-night workshop focused on “Parenting with Love and Logic" Saturday, Feb. 25 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Allan Elementary School, 4900 Gonzales. The event will provide parents with simple and practical techniques to effectively handle challenging child behaviors. The workshop is offered in English and Spanish.

Women's Studies Speaker Series: "Speaking Truth to Power"

The Women’s Studies Program at Garza high school is proud to announce the inauguration of their Women’s Studies Speaker Series, “Speaking Truth to Power”. The multi-credit class empowers young women with the study of the contributions American women have made to the history and culture of this country so that they too will take a leadership role in their own lives and communities. 

Commissioner of Education Defers Implementation of STAAR EOC Grade Conversion

Commissioner of Education Robert Scott announced that he is deferring implementation of the requirement to convert a student's score on the STAAR end-of-course examinations to account for 15 percent the student's final grade in the corresponding course. Click here for his full statement.
