Pajama Literacy Breakfast at Lanier High School

Lanier High School hosts a Pajama Literacy Breakfast featuring breakfast snacks and a story by guest author, Liz Garton Scanlon. Literary events and story times in English and Spanish will follow. Participating schools including McBee, Cook, Lucy Read, Wooldridge, Burnet, Lanier and Wooten are asked to attend wearing PJs.

Travis High School Designated as a "No Place for Hate" School

Austin, TX—Travis High School is now an official "No Place for Hate" school, earning the designation after completing at least three anti-bias activities and committing to a Resolution of Respect. Travis is among 30 Austin ISD schools that have earned this recognition.

Austin ISD Press Statement - Akins High School Student Death

Austin, TX— Austin Independent School District Director of Public Relations and Multicultural Outreach Alex Sanchez released the following statement today regarding the death of Akins High School student, Mark Brandon Dominguez:

"We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss of one of our students. We extend our deepest condolences to his family. The district is providing counseling and other support to the Akins community during this difficult time."

Nominations for Gifted and Talented and Parent Lecture Series

The district’s Department of Advanced Academic Services is pleased to announce that nominations for gifted and talented elementary-level students are being accepted and will continue through the end of January. Interested parents and guardians should contact their school’s GT Advocate for campus deadline and assistance with completing the nomination process.
