Dear Austin ISD Staff and Community, Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! I have some great news to share that we received from TEA. This morning, the new school ratings were released, and I am happy to share that most of our campuses increased their state ratings from 2019. We are especially proud of the following schools that made major strides:

AISD to Provide Free Meals through December
The Texas Department of Agriculture recently announced an extension of current school meal programs through Dec. 31. This extension allows Austin ISD to continue to provide free meals for any child under 19, or those over the age of 19 who are utilizing special education resources or currently enrolled in school to complete the requirements for a high school diploma from curbside meal sites.

Austin ISD Health Professions Program Could Bring More Students Opportunities in Health Careers
Austin ISD, in partnership with Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin and Austin Community College, today announced a proposal to launch a Health Professions Program. The program would prepare students for a career in health professions, and would accept applications from students districtwide. The program is dependent on the bond passing in November.

How to Help Keep Student Meal Accounts Current
A recent social media campaign is encouraging donations to school districts to help offset negative balances on student meal accounts. Food Services Director Anneliese Tanner said that at Austin ISD, no students are ever denied a meal because their accounts aren't current.Instead, the district absorbs the cost of feeding all students who need a lunch, running at a deficit of about $14,000 on…
