We’re working hard to welcome all our new and returning families for the 2026-27 school year! To help make the enrollment process as smooth as possible, here are some important updates and dates to keep on your radar:
Austin ISD board to consider 2026–27 academic calendars, including pilot Additional Days School Year plan
Austin ISD is proposing an Additional Days School Year (ADSY) calendar for a pilot group of campuses to add instructional opportunities over the summer and on select Saturdays at no cost to families. Austin ISD Board approves 24 state-mandated turnaround plans, school consolidation and programmatic reassignments
The Austin ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve 24 state-mandated turnaround plans. The Board’s action included additional votes, which approved the closure and consolidation of 10 schools due to TAPs and programmatic moves, beginning in the 2026–27 school year.
Austin ISD 2026 Teacher of Year finalists announced
Austin ISD is proud to announce this year’s district’s Teacher of the Year finalists. Each year four outstanding educators are selected from elementary and secondary schools as finalists for the Austin ISD Teacher of the Year award. The winner will then continue on in the Regional Teacher of the Year selection process. This year's finalists for Austin ISD Teacher of the Year are:
Toney Burger Athletic Center Needs Assessment
The Toney Burger Athletic Center site, located at 3200 Jones Road in Austin, Texas, is over 57 acres in size. The site features multiple Districtwide serving athletic facilities, including a 15,000-seat stadium, a 5,500-seat arena and a 3,000-seat baseball field.
