Austin ISD Board of Trustees Appoint Police Chief
Tonight, Austin ISD’s Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Ashley Gonzalez as the new Austin ISD Police Chief. The district held a nationwide search, reviewing applicants and conducting several interviews and screenings before moving forward with Gonzalez.

Austin ISD Interim Superintendent Anthony Mays announced at Thursday’s board work session that he had selected current Austin ISD PD Lt. Wayne Sneed to lead the AISD Police Department.
Board Public Hearing – Special Education
Austin ISD will hold a Public Hearing on special education. On Wednesday, Aug. 30, the Texas Education Agency presented an alternative plan for Austin ISD to consider in place of a possible conservatorship over special education. The board will hear public comment and discuss the options presented by TEA.
