April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and we’re #AISDProud to recognize the Austin ISD 2021-22 Volunteers of the Year. We know public schools could not work without the people from the community who step up to do what’s needed, and this is our chance to salute the best of an indispensable bunch.
Families Enjoy Curbside Coffee at Linder Elementary
On a recent morning at Linder Elementary, the kids smiled as they pulled up in the carpool line. The pleasant surprise was because they saw faculty and staff dressed in their Halloween costumes handing out donuts and coffee. The goal of the tasty treats and hot coffee was to bring parents and faculty together in a different and informal way.

Reilly Elementary Principal Selected as Texas PTA’s Elementary Principal of the Year
On Tuesday, Texas Parent Teacher Association announced the recipients for the 2021 Outstanding Educator of the Year Awards. Among 400 nominations at the elementary, secondary and district level, Reilly Elementary Principal Corrine Saenz has been selected as this year’s Elementary Principal of the Year.

LASA Student Named Among Finalists in Regeneron Science Talent Search 2021
Austin ISD Liberal Arts and Science Academy student Sam Christian has been named a top 40 finalist in the 80th Regeneron Science Talent Search, earning him $25,000 in the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors.
