During the most recent legislative session, Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 1481, banning student use of personal communications devices on school campuses during school hours. We now have a clear set of disciplinary measures for violations. The law aims to boost focus, reduce distractions, and curb cyberbullying. In case you missed it:
TEA approves 22 of 24 Turnaround Plans, final two on track for approval (En español)
Dear Austin ISD community, I’m pleased to share that we’ve heard back from TEA about the Turnaround Plans (TAPs) submitted in November 2025. What TEA decided TEA has approved 22 of our 24 Turnaround Plans (92%) without requiring any adjustments.
