Travis ECHS Now Enrolling Students in Hospitality Management Program
Austin ISD is now enrolling students for an innovative program designed to help students earn an associate of applied science degree in hospitality management at no cost while attending Travis Early College High School. This program, launching in August 2021 at Travis ECHS, was created in partnership with Austin Hotel Lodging Association, Visit Austin, and Austin Community College District (ACC).
Hart Elementary Faculty and Students Honor School’s Namesake
Paper hearts, uplifting songs from the Rocket Choir and poetry readings filled the Bernice Hart Elementary cafeteria Friday in a celebration honoring the school’s trailblazing namesake.
District looks at leadership changes for Mendez Middle
Mendez Middle School may soon be under new leadership as Austin ISD explores ending the partnership that manages the school. For the past four years, Mendez has been managed under an agreement with T-STEM Texas. Why it matters: If Mendez doesn’t score a C or higher in TEA’s accountability system in the 2022-23 school year, the school or even the district could be taken over by the state.
Kealing Middle School student Daphne Hayes takes second place in Take Care of Texas Video Contest
Every year, students throughout the state grab their video cameras and head outside to compete in the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's annual Take Care of Texas Video Contest. The goal is to produce the most entertaining and compelling content demonstrating how to keep Texas’ air and water clean, reduce waste, and conserve water and energy.
