School Changes Implementation Teams
Because of the ongoing campus closures related to COVID-19, Austin ISD has needed to make adjustments to its timeline regarding School Changes Implementation Team meetings.
Because Norman-Sims and Metz-Sanchez will continue to colocate during the 2020-21 school year, those campus SCIT meetings will be postponed until next year.
Pease Elementary will continue to engage its community through CAC meetings, held remotely, and is exploring options for honoring the school's legacy as the year comes a close.
Brooke Elementary will hold a virtual SCIT/CAC meeting at 3:15 p.m. on April 23, during which it will ask the members how often they wish to meet moving forward.
We realize that with campuses closed due to COVID-19, this is not how Brooke and Pease families imagined spending the last few weeks at their school. We can only thank our families for their resilience and hope for easier days ahead.

A causa del cierre continuo de los planteles debido a la COVID-19, el Austin ISD ha tenido que hacer ajustes en su cronograma de las juntas de los equipos de implementación de cambios escolares (SCIT, por sus siglas en inglés).
Como Norman-Sims y Metz-Sánchez seguirán compartiendo la ubicación durante el ciclo escolar 2020-21, las juntas de los SCIT de esos planteles se pospondrán hasta el próximo año.
La Primaria Pease seguirá involucrando a la comunidad por medio de sus juntas del CAC, que se realizan de forma remota, y está explorando opciones para honrar el legado de la escuela al terminarse el año.
La Primaria Brooke tendrá una junta virtual del SCIT/CAC a las 3:15 p.m. el 23 de abril, durante la cual les preguntará a los miembros con qué frecuencia desean reunirse de ahora en adelante.

To ensure a smooth transition as our campuses consolidate and colocate, Austin ISD has created School Changes Implementation Teams, or SCITs, for each of the affected campuses. The SCITs will advise the district on the specific needs of each school's transition.
The role of the SCIT is to:
- Respond to the social and emotional needs of students and staff
- Nurture campus and community culture for consolidated schools
- Minimize student disruptions
- Shape academic program design
- Inform immediate and future facility needs
- Ensure the proper historical preservation and memorialization of school histories, artifacts and legacies
SCIT planning will be a function of each school's Campus Advisory Council, and transition planning will be a standing item at the start of all CAC agendas. Meetings will be open to the public and we invite families and community members to please join us at any meeting to give comment or listen to discussion.
