The scoring process uses information gathered during Step 1 of the Surplus Property Process, the data collection phase.
Data collection includes information through market analysis, entitlement studies, public and community partner engagement, facility condition and maintenance assessments, and historical evaluations. In this graphic, these data sources are shown using different colors.
When a property is determined not to be needed for educational or district use, it enters the Surplus Property Repurposing Process.
The district gathers information to understand the property and its context. This includes:
Austin ISD is in the process of identifying the future use for district properties that are underutilized or no longer in use. This process is called “repurposing”.
The district recognizes that schools are community assets. We are committed to exploring options with affected communities that are responsive to their needs and make sense financially and strategically. This means the district will explore and prioritize options where it maintains ownership of the assets.
The Black Excellence Panel will feature guest speakers who will share their experiences, insights, and words of encouragement with students to inspire excellence, leadership, and pride in our community. Free and open to the public.
