Statement from Austin ISD Board of Trustees (en español)
Dear Austin ISD community,
The board met Tuesday to review candidates for interim superintendent. Seventeen candidates applied, and we have chosen to invite four for interviews with the trustees. Our decision-making process incorporated input from the Austin ISD community and needs identified by members of the board. We thank all of the candidates who applied.
Our timeline for naming an interim superintendent remains the same: a vote at our meeting on Dec 15 for an interim who will begin work by Jan. 3, 2023.

4th Annual College Readiness Symposium : Breaking Barriers, Growing Generations
School Safety and Security Committee (SSSC) Meeting
The public can view the meeting on zoom (more details on the agenda).
The districtwide School Safety and Security Committee must meet by law at least three times per year to discuss current concerns of the district as well as to inform security practices.

CTE Spotlight: Crockett Junior Andrew Garcia building a career in construction
When he started his freshman year at Crockett Early College High School, Andrew Garcia wanted to go into theater and build stage props. As he was signing up, he was told that if he wanted to do theater, he should sign up for construction.
Now, he has found himself hoping to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, who owns his own construction company. Discovering this new passion was a happy coincidence.
CTE Spotlight- Max Campbell Odom is turning up the heat in the Austin High School Culinary Arts program
Austin High School senior Max "Camp" Campbell Odom accidentally stumbled upon his passion for cooking while browsing elective choices his sophomore year. As an only child, he had spent some time in the kitchen helping his mom and thought he could give culinary arts class a try.
“I’ve always somewhat taken a liking to cooking," said Odom. "There’s some mental health conditions that I have and cooking has always helped me to refocus, to center myself and collect myself.”
