GT Virtual Student Showcase

Welcome to our Annual District Gifted and Talented Student Showcase!

GT students were invited to submit a virtual student project (individual, partner, or group) that connected with the 2025 theme: This is Our Story. We received hundreds of student submissions from across the district, and we are excited to share the chosen GT student projects with you. While not every campus is represented below, every campus supports GT students and their accomplishments throughout the year.

 

Graduate Highlight: Evan Craig is breaking barriers at Austin High

Evan Craig is creating important dialogues about racial justice at Austin High School. Craig has been the president of the Black Student Alliance at Austin High School for three consecutive years and is currently treasurer of the Student Council. He was also named the 2022 African American Senior Scholar, with the highest GPA of all Black students at Austin High School.

MEDIA ADVISORY: Board of Trustees to review Special Education report

A third-party assessment of special education services in Austin ISD will be presented to the Board of Trustees at its Special Board Information Session tonight. 

The report, created over months of analysis by Stetson and Associations, outlines the opportunities and challenges within the special education services and a path forward to ensure students can be served adequately.

Highlights of the report include:

National Scholastic Press Association names 33 Austin ISD students to Journalism Honor Roll

The National Scholastic Press Association has named 33 Austin ISD students to its 2022 Journalism Honor Roll in recognition of their academic excellence.

The students are among 1,300 student journalists nationwide to receive the honor. In addition to serving for at least two years on a high school student media staff, in broadcast, newspaper, magazine, online or yearbook, the students have earned a 3.5 or higher grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

McConaughey talks journaling with Sadler Means

In April, Sadler Means launched their All Write, All Write, All Write: Sadler Means Intro to Journaling initiative. Thanks to a donation from actor and professor Matthew McConaughey, every student and staff member received a copy of Greenlights: Your Journal, Your Journey, a journal filled with prompts that “encourage going inside: remembering, reflecting, and musing, and also going outside: adventuring, taking risks, and dreaming big.
