Long-range Planning Committee (LPC) Meeting

The Long-range Planning Committees are ad hoc advisory bodies established by the superintendent. The purpose of the Planning Committees is to develop long-range plans including a prioritized list of recommended capital projects in each of the planning categories: Academics & Career and Technical Education, Athletics , Visual & Performing Arts, Facilities, Safety, Security & Resiliency, Transportation, Food Service & Maintenance, and Technology.

School Safety and Security Committee (SSSC) Meeting

The districtwide School Safety and Security Committee must meet by law at least three times per year to discuss current concerns of the district as well as to inform security practices. The coordinator of the committee is Bethany Shaw and she can be reached at bethany.shaw@austinisdpolice.org

Educators aim to accurately depict Native American issues, history

Elizabeth Close is teaching her Anderson High School Ethnic Studies students about Native American issues this November, but is hoping to go beyond the narrative of what they’ve always learned. In her class, they’re discussing issues such as the Keystone pipeline, Standing Rock, the Oglala protests, missing indigenous people within the U.S. and Canada and more.
