Austin ISD Pays $618.2 Million—46.6 percent of local tax revenue—to State of Texas

Last week, Austin ISD sent $618.2 million of the taxes the district collects in Austin to the State of Texas. This payment is almost half of the district's annual budget of $1.6 billion.

AISD is the single, largest payer into the state finance system, which is called local revenue in excess of entitlement, also known as recapture.

Austin ISD Staff to Call Families Directly Ahead of First Day of School

Families should expect a call from campus within the week

Austin ISD families will receive calls from campus staff within the next week to gather individual information and student needs for the first day of school Sept. 8.

The individualized conversations will include discussions on technology needs and general information on the upcoming school year. The discussions are essential for Austin ISD staff to prepare for the first four weeks of school in regard to on-campus staffing and support for families.

Curbside Meals Update / Actualización sobre las comidas desde la banqueta

AISD will continue to provide free meals for any child under 19, and their parents or caregivers, until the start of the new school year. Friday, August 14 is the last day meals will be served at bus stop sites. Beginning Monday, August 17, meals will be available at curbside locations only and meal times will change to 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On Tuesday, August 18, the number of curbside meal sites will increase from 17 to more than 40 locations throughout Austin.

Need to Know: Reopening Overview - This past week has been historic for Austin ISD. Firstly, we welcomed our new Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Elizalde. Additionally, since last Thursday, the district has changed the date of the first day of school and released a new draft plan for reopening.
