Community Bond Oversight Committee Meeting
The public is invited to attend the Community Bond Oversight Committee meeting from 6-8 p.m. on June 12.

Austin ISD Celebrates Juneteenth
Austin ISD will participate in the annual Historical Juneteenth Parade on June 16, organized by GEAYA (Greater East Austin Youth Association). DCCE invites you to join us as we work to increase visibility of AISD as a district that welcomes all students, in a safe, supportive and learning environment. Our participation aligns with the district's strategic plan vision, core beliefs and values.
An all-district marching band will be performing as part of the Austin ISD Juneteenth parade contingent.
Austin ISD Presents Disney's NEWSIES: The Broadway Musical
Join us for the Austin ISD Districtwide Summer Musical Production of Disney's "Newsies".
Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this new Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city.
After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action.
With help from the reporter Katherine Plumber, all of New York City soon recognizes the power of 'the little man'.
Music by Alan Menken. Lyrics by Jack Feldman.
Book by Harvey Fierstein.
Based on the Disney Film written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White.
Directed by Christina Burbank, Theatre Director, Crockett HS.

Newsies is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

Austin ISD Presents: Disney's Shakespeare In Love: The Play
Join us for the Austin ISD Districtwide Summer Play Production of Disney's "Shakespeare in Love".
Penniless and indebted to two demanding producers, struggling young playwright William Shakespeare is tormented by writer’s block until he meets the beautiful Viola de Lesseps, daughter of a wealthy merchant, whose fiery passion for poetry and drama leaves her secretly longing to be an actor.
Both are despondent when they learn that Viola’s father has promised her to the stuffy Lord Wessex in order to gain a title for their family.
Under the veil of secrecy, Will and Viola’s passionate love affair becomes the basis of the very play he is writing—Romeo and Juliet.
Based on the Screenplay by Marc Norman & Tom Stoppard.
Adapted for the stage by Lee Hall with Music by Paddy Cunneen.
Directed by Melissa Driscoll, Theatre Director, LBJ/LASA HS.

Seeds to Succeed: More than $110,000 in Grants Support Innovative Projects
The Austin Ed Fund will host a reception on June 6 at Google offices downtown honoring teachers from 23 different campuses who won innovative grants from Austin Ed Fund—totaling $110,615—to turn their projects from idea into reality.
Projects focused on whole child every child, literacy and science technology, engineering and math. Grants are made possible by community contributions.
