Fine Arts Academies offer a rigorous, high-quality and unique educational opportunity for students interested in pursuing an accelerated arts curriculum. These academies go beyond the sequential band, choir, dance, guitar, orchestra, theatre, visual arts and elementary music and art offered at every Austin ISD campus. Fine Arts Academy students experience robust, deep engagement with the arts and have additional learning, performance and competition opportunities.

It’s Never Too Early

Early College Prep in middle school prepares students for academic challenges of college through rigorous academic coursework and high school credit classes in a supportive, college-focused environment. Students are exposed to information about various colleges, and they explore the admissions and financial aid processes.

Unlocking the Dyslexic Advantage

The Austin ISD Dyslexia Middle School Project provides students with dyslexia services and supports in a comprehensive academic environment. Students receive the support they need to excel in the core curriculum while maintaining access to elective and extracurricular courses and activities available to all middle school students. Students are also provided with dyslexia intervention during an elective and introduced to assistive technology tools.

Putting Passion in Focus

Austin ISD’s digital media initiative is part of the district’s fine arts programming.

Through partnerships with local organizations, students learn filmmaking, digital photography, newscasting and more. Students interested in digital media can expand their knowledge and skills by learning from working professionals in the field. The hands-on opportunity gives students a behind-the-scenes look at the world of digital production.

Bringing Creativity to the Classroom

The Creative Learning Initiative seeks to provide a quality, arts-rich education for every student at Austin ISD. The initiative is a nationally recognized, collaborative effort among Austin ISD, MINDPOP, the city of Austin, and over 100 community arts partners. CLI provides a specialized curriculum and professional development for educators with the goal of ensuring that students receive the benefits of creative learning across core curriculum subjects and during and outside of the school day.
