Austin ISD is currently operating on a summer efficiency schedule, during which all schools and offices adopt a four-day week. Business hours are 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday–Thursday. All district and campus offices are closed on Fridays.

The district also is closed for one week, from July 3–7. All AISD offices and schools will be closed during this period.

AISD's regular, five-day work week will resume Monday, Aug. 14. Classes for the 2017–18 school year will begin Monday, Aug. 21.

All schools and offices will be closed one entire week — Monday, July 3, through Friday, July 7.

All schools and offices will adopt a four-day week for the weeks of June 12 through August 12. On Monday through Thursday of those weeks, office hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and offices will be closed every Friday. Employees will work a 10-hour day on a flexible schedule.

Austin ISD trustees tonight called a $1.05 billion bond proposal that includes re-envisioning 21st-century learning spaces for 16 schools and districtwide projects, with no tax rate increase.

The proposal includes districtwide projects to address facility deficiencies as well as to support innovative programming such as the district's career launch program.

The Austin ISD Board of Trustees, Superintendent Dr. Paul Cruz and community members will visit Menchaca Elementary School to officially announce the $1.05 billion bond election.

The bond election, if approved, would bring 21st century learning spaces to the district with no tax rate increase. The bond would also modernize or build 16 schools, including Menchaca. Additionally, all AISD schools would receive a portion of the bond funds if passed.

At its special board meeting June 26, the Austin ISD Board of Trustees elected District 6 Trustee Geronimo Rodriguez as vice president.

The entire Austin ISD Board of Trustees is made up of nine members who serve four-year terms.
