High schools across Texas will be celebrating seniors on GenTX Decision Day, May 5.
To show a united support for the seniors and their commitment to higher education, please wear a college T-shirt on Friday, May 5.
Campuses will also be celebrating by highlighting senior acceptances and/or scholarships, making announcements or planning a lunch event promoting post-secondary planning.
Five students from Eastside Memorial High School are preparing themselves for possible careers as doctors by taking classes in the ACC Pre-Med Summer Youth Academy.
Students selected for the academy are 11th-grade students Paulina Duelos Coronado, Joseph Ramirez, Lisbeth Hernandez, Carmen Pacheco and Maria Villafuerte. The students are enrolled in the Health Science program for the upcoming school year.

Salute, co-hosted by AISD and Austin Partners in Education, is an opportunity to recognize some of AISD's outstanding team members for their continued dedication to student excellence and achievement in our schools. This year, we will recognize the Teacher of the Year, Campus Classified Staff of the Year, District Classified Staff of the Year, Principal of the Year, Librarian of the Year, Counselor of the Year, Assistant Principal of the Year, and APIE Hall of Fame award winners. In addition, Teachers of Promise will be honored.
What: Late starts provide the necessary time for on-going support for teachers, sharing of best practices, and built-in time for assessing the effectiveness of program implementation.
