MEDIA ADVISORY AISD to Break Ground on Career Launch addition at Reagan Early College High School

Austin ISD will break ground on an approximately 3,500-square-foot building to accommodate the new Career Launch program at Reagan Early College High School.

The program, a partnership with Dell Technologies and Austin Community College, allows students to earn an associate degree in computer science.

Phase one of the construction project is expected to be complete by the start of the new school year. The approximately $500,000 construction includes three offices, reception/entrance, a large collaboration space, a computer lab, a project room and storage.

Dig it: City Honors Bowie Science Teacher for Protecting School's Cave

The Austin City Council honored Bowie science teacher Jill Harding on May 18 for her work in making the "Bowie Cave" an educational resource for Bowie High School students.

As the school was being built in 1989, a cave was discovered underneath the science wing. In 1995, Harding led an effort to make it safe for the public to access and explore the cave. 

AISD hosts 'Chopped' Student Culinary Competition at Whole Foods in partnership with Whole Kids Foundation

Teams of culinary students from Burnet and Lamar middle schools will be putting their skills to the test for the inaugural Austin ISD Chopped Student Culinary Competition. The participating teams will represent their class by preparing healthy smoothie recipes featuring the "secret ingredient," cilantro.
