The Second Annual Ladies of Distinction Young Women's Conference

Austin ISD invites you to the Second Annual Ladies of Distinction Young Women's Conference.

The event aims to promote and support happiness among young women within AISD.

Participants can attend classes that include zumba, yoga, acting, cooking, painting without a twist and more.

The event will also feature a special guest speaker.

This free event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 1, at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center, and is open to all AISD middle and high school students.

AISD Board Approves Revisions to Student Discipline for Pre-K Through Second Grade

My Brother's Keeper Thrives at Webb Middle School

On a recent day in February, students and staff at Webb Middle School gathered eagerly in the school's library. Every month, the 30 or so sixth-graders are joined by their mentors in the My Brother's Keeper program, aimed at students considered chronically absent.

For February's event, the group brought their lunches and then decorated cupcakes with a variety of nearly fluorescent-colored frostings and sprinkles.

"I like to see my kiddos outside of a learning environment," said teacher Lauren Hernandez of her mentee, Lizseth Santa Cruz.

AISD Future Jam Youth Basketball Tournament

Austin ISD is proud to host this free, family-friendly, 5-on-5 youth basketball tournament from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at LBJ Early College High School.

Boys and girls teams from grades 4–8 will showcase their skills in the Jaguars' gym.

Austin ISD staff will be on hand to provide information and receive feedback on the Facility Master Plan and the district's plans for modernization and support of neighborhood schools.

Austin ISD will celebrate Youth Art Month with Travis High School student artist David Thang signing a billboard he designed.

What:  The Austin Fire Department will lift the student; his art teacher, Rachael Wellborn; and Superintendent Paul Cruz up in a fire truck bucket to sign the billboard. The billboards are sponsored by A+ Federal Credit Union and Reagan National Advertising.
