Community Meeting: Long Range Facilities and Bond Planning

Join us in the Lanier High School cafeteria from 6-8 p.m. as Austin ISD hosts a community engagement meeting about the district's long-range facilities master planning process and bond program.

District leadership, members of the Facilities and Bond Planning Advisory Committee, project team consultants and district staff will be in attendance to listen and share the preliminary survey information, project timeline and objectives, and what you can expect as the district moves through this important process.

We want to learn from you: 

What it means to "reinvent the urban school experience"; and

What are the best ways to have conversations about the future of our schools?

Your feedback is important as the district begins a long-range planning process, including possible future bond programs that will serve our community.

Child care and Spanish interpretation will be provided at all meetings.

AISD will host a series of community engagement meetings about the district's long-range facilities master planning process and bond program. At the meetings, the district will introduce district leadership, members of the Facilities and Bond Planning Advisory Committee and project team consultants. The district will also share results from the community engagement survey and provide information about the project’s timeline, objectives and what the public can expect as the district moves through the overall process. Meetings will be held in the cafeteria at each location: Bowie High School—9–11 a.m. April 30 Salder Means YWLA—1–3 p.m. April 30 Allan Facility—11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. May 2 Akins High School—6–8 p.m. May 3 Lanier High School—6–8 p.m. May 4

Technology and a Movie: AISD Innovation Summit

Austin ISD Department of Technology invites teachers, administrators, families and community members to its Innovation Summit. The summit includes student performances, demonstrations and facilitated sessions on technology.

What: A special screening of the film, “Most Likely to Succeed,” a documentary about the imperative for change in schools, will be followed by a student panel to highlight their perspectives on the film.

U.S. News & World Report Ranks Six AISD High Schools Among Best in Nation

Six Austin ISD high schools are among the best in the nation, according to the 2016 U.S. News & World Report rankings.

“Austin ISD has some of the best schools in the country. I am excited to see Austin schools continue to rank well in Texas and the nation,” Superintendent Paul Cruz said. “I’m proud of our staff and students for all the hard work they do in the classroom every day.”

All six also were among the top-ranked public high schools on the magazine's list in 2015.
