AISD Holds 2015 Graduation Ceremonies June 2–6

Austin ISD will hold high school graduation ceremonies June 2–6 for the Class of 2015.

All but two of the 15 graduation ceremonies will be held at the Frank Erwin Center. The Rosedale School will hold its ceremony at its campus. Premier at Lanier and Travis high schools will hold their ceremonies at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center.

After-School Programs Host 15th Annual Showcase

Austin ISD Prime Time and ACE 21st Century After School Program celebrate the 15th annual showcase Saturday, April 25, to highlight the importance of after-school programming.

ACE-Austin and Prime Time provide extended learning opportunities for students and their families and offers innovative, hands-on activities that reinforce and complement students' regular academic programs.

All programs are free to students and their families.

Govalle Students Code to Keep Computers

Two classes of Govalle Elementary School fourth-graders are taking part in a program designed to encourage students to code. 

Codestarter.org is a nonprofit organization that supplies laptops to students to help develop coding skills in traditionally underrepresented populations. 

Govalle students will take coding classes with a new Google Chromebook supplied by Codestarter. 

If the students complete their first set of classes in the program successfully, the laptop is theirs to keep. 

Austin ISD, APIE Celebrate Exceptional Volunteers at Annual Event

On April 30, Austin ISD and Austin Partners In Education recognize exceptional volunteers and community members for their commitment to preparing AISD students for college and careers.

The annual Celebrate event is a night dedicated to bringing together the AISD community, volunteers and school leaders to recognize excellence throughout the district and honor people who have been instrumental in educating students.

A Message from the Superintendent: Save Texas Schools Rally​

Dear AISD Teachers, Principals and Staff, I want to make you aware of an opportunity for the Austin community to support our public schools. Save Texas Schools will be holding a statewide rally at the Capitol from 10 a.m.–noon Saturday, April 18, to support fair and equitable funding for public schools, continued reform to our testing system and community-based supports for struggling schools.
