Hundreds of AISD Students Achieve Recognition for Performance on AP Exams

The College Board has bestowed 858 Austin ISD students with AP Scholar Awards for their exceptional achievement on Advanced Placement Exams.

Students can be recognized on several levels of achievement based on their performance on AP Exams.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program provides students the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while in high school to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.

Oak Hill Celebrates 40 Years

Oak Hill Elementary School celebrated 40 years in its current building last week.

“This is more than a celebration of our building. It's about our school's long history and spirit," said Principal Cathryn Mitchell. “Every student is involved. The entire community of past teachers, principals and students is part of this celebration.”

LASA Ranked No. 14 Among 25 Best Public High Schools in the U.S.

In a recent survey of public high schools, the Liberal Arts and Science Academy, or LASA, was ranked No. 14 among the top 25 high schools in the nation. 

School data site Niche ranked high schools based on 27 million reviews from more than 300,000 students and parents. Respondents rated schools for academics, teachers, student culture and diversity as well as resources and facilities.​
