McCallum Fine Arts Academy Showcase and Open House

The McCallum Fine Arts Academy Showcase & Open House is an opportunity for interested prospective eighth- and ninth-grade students and their families to learn about the fine arts intensive program at McCallum, application procedures and timelines, and other school information.

The showcase is 7-8 p.m. in the MAC Theatre, followed by breakout sessions from 8-9 p.m. in both fine arts buildings.

Latin America Documentary Series

Join Austin ISD as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a Latin America–focused documentary series of brown bag sessions.

The documentaries will be shown at noon every Tuesday from Sept. 23–Oct. 14 in the Board Auditorium.

Mazda Promotes STEM Careers at Bowie and Akins High Schools

On Sept. 16–17, Akins and Bowie high school students learned about science, technology, engineering and math careers from Mazda racecar driver Joel Miller.

The driver is among a hand full of racers who is also a mechanical engineer, though Mazda also employs many engineers for a variety of professionals who work closely with the drivers—from those building the cars to those making sure the car performs at its best.

Marching Band Jamboree

Come experience the 42nd Annual Marching Band Jamboree, featuring Austin ISD high school marching bands and special guests the Texas State Bobcat Marching Band.

The jamboree is 7–9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 23, at the Toney Burger Center, 3200 Jones Road.

Admission is $3 per person, with free admission for children 12 and younger.

Two Thursday Night Football Games Rescheduled

Game on!

Because of weather conditions Thursday, two Austin ISD football games have been rescheduled to Friday and Saturday:

  • Anderson vs. Bowie Friday will now be 5.pm. Friday, Sept. 19, at Burger Stadium. This will be a double-header opportunity as the Trojans and the Bulldogs take the field before the Crockett and McCallum game.
  • Travis vs. Cedar Creek wil now be noon Saturday, Sept. 20, at Burger Stadium.

AISD Operates as Scheduled Friday

Austin ISD will operate as scheduled today.

Due to weather and possible flooding in some areas, there may be delays in bus pick-up and school arrival times.

AISD asks parents to please add extra time to their commutes this morning and to expect road closures and traffic delays.

The district also reminds Austin drivers to stop for AISD school buses whose lights are flashing.

Late arrivals to school today due to weather and traffic delays will be excused.
