AISD Invites Community to Share Input on Facility Master Plan

AUSTIN, Texas—Austin ISD will host regional meetings to gather public input on Facility Master Plan development in March and April.

The FMP will outline the current status and future use of district facilities, guide the development of future capital improvements and supports planning for future bond elections. The public will have the opportunity to provide feedback on issues under consideration for inclusion in the FMP.

Parent Support Specialist One of 20 in Nation Nominated for Positive Impact Award

Mycah Lee Arellano, a Walnut Creek Elementary School parent support specialist and host of The Eagle Talk Show, has been nominated for a Hispanicize “Positive Impact Award.” Arellano’s talk show—the first academic talk show in the state—is sponsored by AISD and is dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of parental involvement.

Class of 2014: AISD Holds Graduation Ceremonies June 3-7

The Austin Independent School District will hold high school graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2014 June 3-7.

 All but two of the 15 graduation ceremonies will be held at the Frank Erwin Center. The Rosedale School will hold its ceremony at its campus. Premier at Lanier and Travis high schools will hold their ceremonies at the LBJ Auditorium on the University of Texas at Austin campus.

Ceremonies held at the Frank Erwin Center will be webcast live on the district's website at www.austinisd.org

AISD Celebrates Youth Art Month March 21-April 14

AUSTIN, Texas--More than 1,500 artworks representing 113 schools will be on display for the public at One Congress Plaza, 111 Congress Ave., for the next month as part of Austin ISD's Youth Art Month beginning this weekend.

A reception will kick off the art celebration 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 23 at One Congress Plaza. Refreshments and free parking in the plaza's parking garage will be available.

Join us in celebrating Youth Art Month in Austin ISD as the student artist, Julia Lund, signs one of the billboards she designed. Billboards are sponsored by A+ Federal Credit Union and Reagan National Advertising, Inc. The Austin Fire Department provides the truck with bucket which will lift Julia, a student at Bowie High School, and her art teacher, Carlye Brookshire, up to the billboard. Dr. Meria Carstarphen, AISD Superintendent, will be there to help celebrate this event.

To celebrate Youth Art Month 2014 in Austin, more than 1,500 works of art representing 113 elementary, middle and high schools will be displayed for public viewing at One Congress Plaza. Parkway Properties, an AISD Art Program sponsor, has generously donated space for this yearly event. Parents, students, teachers, and art lovers, from all walks of Austin life will gather to view this once a year exhibit. Painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, collage, weaving, ceramics, photography, jewelry and electronic media will amaze visitors to the show. At the reception on March 23, 2014 refreshments will be provided. Free parking is available for the reception in One Congress Plaza parking garage.
