All AISD schools and offices are operating on a normal schedule.

2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 —

AISD is back to normal operations today, Tuesday, Feb. 11. This includes athletic and fine arts events and other activities scheduled for this evening.

The district also does not anticipate any changes for tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 12. 

4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 —

AISD Delays Classes, Start Times Feb. 11 Due to Weather

AUSTIN, Texas--Austin ISD would like to inform its communities that all classes for Tuesday, Feb. 11 have been delayed due to weather and road conditions.

Classes and district office hours for all AISD campuses will operate on a two-hour delay. AISD buses will also operate on a two-hour delay. Parents with questions about transportation can call AISD's transportation department between 7:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. at 512-414-0238.

AISD Continues to Monitor Weather Overnight

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory through 6 p.m. tomorrow, which could mean hazardous conditions and icy roads. AISD will continue to monitor the weather overnight.

However, at this time, based on the best information available to the district from meteorologists, there are no concrete projections on whether or not Austin will experience freezing temperatures and precipitation that would impact roads and bridges in the morning.

District officials will reconvene to reassess the situation at 4 a.m. tomorrow.

AISD Superintendent Carstarphen Elected Chair of Texas Urban Council of Superintendents

AUSTIN, Texas—Superintendent Meria Carstarphen has been elected 2014 chair of the Texas Urban Council of Superintendents, a network of the largest urban school districts in Texas representing approximately 777,000 students and 50,000 teachers throughout Texas.

The school districts participating in the state’s urban network include Aldine, Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, Lubbock, San Antonio and Ysleta.

Families of all eighth grade students are invited to come and visit Travis High School and view all of the Career and Technical Education courses, Advanced Placement courses, Electives as well as recieve the latest update on HB5 and the new graduation requirements. Students will be able to talk to members of the following programs; Engineering, Video Game Design, 3D Printing, Hospitality, Culinary, Teaching, Business, Art, Athletics, ROTC, Nutrition, Graphic Design, Film Making, AVID, PALS, LOTE, Dance and Health Science. This includes athletic and fine arts events and other activities scheduled for this evening and throughout the weekend. Participants in district-sponsored events should confirm official information and details on specific events with their organization leads, coaches and sponsors.

Participants in outdoor events are encouraged to dress appropriately for the lower temperatures expected this evening and throughout the weekend.
