Austin Convention and Visitor's Bureau Gives Back to Travis High School

Students from the Travis High School Hospitality program received a welcome surprise last Friday when the Austin Convention and Visitor's Bureau and the Austin Hotel and Lodging Association made a generous donation to help grow the program.

Mayor Lee Leffingwell, a proud Travis High School alumni, and Bob Landers, CEO and President of the Austin Convention and Visitor's Bureau, were both on hand to recognize the program and present the award to Travis High School Principal Ty Davidson and hospitality instructor Jayma Vaughan.

AISD, National Wildlife Federation Celebrate Opening of Outdoor Learning Center

Austin, Texas--The Austin Independent School District, the National Wildlife Federation and community volunteers will celebrate the completion of a district-wide, outdoor learning center, which features a solar classroom and an outdoor habitat with plants and materials native to Central Texas.

 

What: AISD and its partners will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the district-wide demonstration wildlife habitat and outdoor learning center with learning stations that connect students with nature.

AISD Teacher of the Year and Principal of the Year Winners Announced during Salute

Last night, the Austin Independent School District announced its Teacher of the Year and Principal of Year winners, among others, during Salute, an annual event hosted by AISD and Austin Partners In Education to celebrate district employees. 

The event, held at the Long Center for the Performing Arts, brought together AISD employees, families and community members to recognize some of AISD's most outstanding staff members. 

League of Women Voters Published District 3 Report

On April 16th, the League of Women Voters of the Austin Area hosted a community conversation that focused on issues that are particular concern in District 3. This event is part of the Austin League’s series of conversations about public education. At this event, they convened community members from AISD District Three and asked how a diverse community can best work together to provide leadership that helps make education work for all students in this district.
