AISD Statement on Travis County Taxpayer's Union Lawsuit Filing and Court Hearing

Austin, TX—The Austin Independent School District released the following statement regarding the court hearing on a lawsuit filed by the Travis County Taxpayer's Union SPAC: 

Today, Judge Orlinda Naranjo found the request for a temporary restraining order without merit and the order was denied.

The district will continue to provide the public with factual information about the May bond election and the scope of work at each of its facilities.

AISD Joins ACC to Host El Día de la Familia

This Saturday, Austin ISD joins Austin Community College and other local organizations to present the seventh annual El Día de La Familia celebration. Sponsored by the Latino/Latin American Studies Center of the Austin Community College Riverside Campus, the celebration aims to share with the community the benefits of higher education. Attendees are invited to tour an open house of the ACC's Riverside campus facilities and will be treated to cultural performances and presentations by a variety of community groups.

AISD Employees Offered Free, Confidential Health Checkups at Campuses

The Austin Independent School District has teamed up with independent health provider Catapult Health to offer free, confidential health checkups to all district employees and their spouses enrolled in AISD’s employee health plan.  

The checkups, which began as a soft launch in March and run through September, are part of AISD’s ongoing commitment to invest in the health and well-being of its greatest assets—its employees—and are among many health initiatives currently underway targeting staff.   

Hill ES Students Design Reusable Bags, Limited Amount Available for Purchase

Austin’s bag ban has only been in effect for two months, but already students at Hill Elementary School have capitalized on a way to help the city’s cause—and the environment—while also raising money for an annual fundraiser at the school. 

Each year, Hill ES fifth graders must come together, brainstorm ideas and raise money in order to throw an end-of-year party at the campus.

What:  The Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee (ESAC) conference is designed to educate and raise awareness of sustainability and environmental stewardship within the AISD community.  The program will include a key note speaker and lectures/panel discussions.  The audience consists primarily of high school students, teachers and AISD staff.  In addition, all members of the community with an interest in the environment are welcome to attend.

 

Media Advisory: AISD Holds Media Briefing About Bomb Threat at Anderson High School

Austin, TexasThe Austin Independent School District will hold a media briefing with AISD Police Chief Eric Mendez to provide information about today's evacuation at Anderson High School due to a bomb threat.
