AISD Doubles Capacity to Teach Prekindergarten for 3-Year-Old Students in 2016-17
Next year, Austin ISD will nearly double its capacity to teach prekindergarten for 3-year-olds (Pre-K3) thanks to contributions from local donors.“When students have a strong start, they have a strong future,” Superintendent Paul Cruz said. “We want make sure all students are given a path to success. Starting early improves the chance that students graduate college-, career- and life-ready.”

Breaking down the budget cuts
District leaders are proposing a balanced budget for the 2022-23 school year, including a reduction of 632 positions to close our $87 million deficit. There’s been some confusion about how we ended up with 632 positions when earlier budget discussions focused on cutting 250 positions from Central Office.
Austin ISD Weather Information, Makeup Days
Austin ISD will never need to use its bad weather makeup days due to two days of additional instructional minutes included in the calendar.The Texas Education Agency requires districts to make up the first two days of school following bad weather closures while any additional days do not need to be recovered.
