Results of the 2024 STAAR are now available and show Austin ISD, along with other Texas school districts, still struggling to get scores back on track post-pandemic. Why it matters: While test scores aren’t the only measure of academic knowledge, the tests show how our students are mastering course material so we can create plans to address gaps in knowledge.
Austin ISD Website Honored for Transparency
The website of the Austin School District has been honored with a “Sunny Award” by editors of the Sunshine Review, a non-profit organization that promotes state and local government transparency. Only 112 of the more than 6,000 government websites ranked by the Sunshine Review earned a “Sunny Award.” The Austin ISD website scored an “A” on the Sunshine Review’s Transparency Checklist. More…

AISD Employee Elizabeth Polk Retires After 55 Years
Even the cake was purple as a long-time librarian, leader, mentor and friend Elizabeth Polk wrapped a feathered purple scarf around her neck to match the decorations at the ALC gym. Colleagues, friends, and family gathered to celebrate her retirement after serving the district for 55 years.
