Wildcat Health and Wellness Night is a free family engagement event focused on living a healthy lifestyle though physical fitness, nutrition, mental and emotional well-being, connections to resources within the city of Austin and health assessments performed by students from the Akins High School Health Science department.

Future of school funding looking bleak following failure of school voucher bill (En español)
The most recent efforts at the Texas Capitol to create a school voucher program were defeated after lawmakers voted 84-63 to remove the creation of education savings accounts from the session’s education funding bill, HB 1. A coalition of all Democrats and 21 Republicans stood firm against the proposal that would use taxpayer dollars to pay for private schooling.

Austin ISD's Police Department is dedicated to the healthy development of students and employees. We strive to add time and resources back where they count—the classroom. Education is the ultimate mitigator of risks. Please take time to review each resource, which address the risks associated with various threats and hazards, including bullying, gangs and drug abuse.
