AISD to Provide Free Meals for All Students for 2021-22 School Year (En español)
By Lindsey Bradley When students step onto an Austin ISD campus in the 2021-22 school year, they can rest assured they will be able to get a healthy lunch at no cost. The United States Department of Agriculture announced on April 20 they are extending free meal benefits through June 2022, allowing Austin ISD to keep serving its free lunches.

The Texas Department of Agriculture recently announced an extension of current school meal programs through December 31. This extension allows Austin ISD to continue to provide free meals for any child under 19, or those over the age of 19 who are utilizing special education resources or currently enrolled in school to complete the requirements for a high school diploma from curbside meal sites.

Austin ISD Offers Eligible Students Free and Reduced-Price Meals
As in previous years, Austin ISD is encouraging families to apply for free or reduced-price meals.A new meal benefits application must be submitted each school year. While applications are accepted throughout the school year, to ensure benefits go uninterrupted, applications should be submitted by Oct. 2 to receive free or reduced-price meals for the 2017–18 school year.

Central Texas Food Bank Meals Available During Spring Break
Students in need of healthy meals during Spring Break will still have access to food services while Austin ISD is closed March 12–16. The Central Texas Food Bank will provide services at various locations throughout the region and is available for families in need. Download a list of Central Texas Food Back service locations.
Austin ISD Will Serve Up Good Nutrition for Local Children This Summer
Bringing healthy summer meals to the Austin community ensures kids have a healthy vacation and return to school ready to learn. This summer, Austin ISD will serve anyone 18 years old and younger healthy meals at more than 50 campuses at no cost through the Summer Food Service Program. Both breakfast and lunch will be offered at all AISD summer meal sites.
