The Austin Independent School District will be closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, Monday, Jan. 19.All AISD offices and schools will be closed during this period. Blackshear Fine Arts Academy Receives Library Grant
Blackshear Fine Arts Academy received a $3,000 grant from bestselling author James Patterson to support its school library.In addition, Scholastic Reading Club will match each dollar of Patterson’s donation with points teachers can use to acquire books and other materials for their classrooms. Blackshear was chosen from 27,924 applications throughout the U.S.
AISD Monitors Weather as More Rain is Expected Overnight
AISD continues to monitor the weather and the latest information available from the National Weather Service as more rain is expected overnight. At this time, the district anticipates schools will be open as scheduled tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 6.However, the district recognizes that the true impact of the rains likely will not be known until overnight and into the early morning.
