Austin High Basketball Captain Lends a Hand with 'Shoes for Two'
Austin High School senior and basketball captain Lucas Renfroe is not just assisting his teammates on the court this season, he’s lending a helping hand to those in need.Renfroe and his father, Mark, founded Shoes for Two, a nonprofit group that receives donations of lightly used shoes, cleans them, boxes them and then distributes them to children or organizations in need.

Austin ISD Board Adopts a $1.6 Billion Budget
The AISD Board of Trustees at its June 22 Regular Voting Meeting approved the adoption of the Fiscal Year 2021 budget totaling $1.6 billion. A clinician and researcher, Jeames—a finalist for Teacher of the Year—said he wants students to learn that there are more options in medicine than becoming a nurse or doctor.

AISD Names Nicholas Dellas the 2014 High School Teacher of the Year
Nicholas Dellas is science department manager at LBJ Early College High School. He has a master’s degree in kinesiology with a specialization in exercise physiology from the University of Texas at Austin, and a bachelor’s degree in health science with an emphasis in athletic training from Grand Valley State University.
