Austin ISD Offers Eligible Students Free and Reduced-Price Meals
As in previous years, Austin ISD is encouraging families to apply for free or reduced-price meals.A new meal benefits application must be submitted each school year. While applications are accepted throughout the school year, to ensure benefits go uninterrupted, applications should be submitted by Oct. 2 to receive free or reduced-price meals for the 2017–18 school year.
Blackshear Fine Arts Academy Receives Library Grant
Blackshear Fine Arts Academy received a $3,000 grant from bestselling author James Patterson to support its school library.In addition, Scholastic Reading Club will match each dollar of Patterson’s donation with points teachers can use to acquire books and other materials for their classrooms. When the UIL Young Filmmakers Festival was held recently at the Paramount Theater, three films from Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders made it to the state finals.Willow Daleheit earned the state championship in Division 2 for traditional animation for her film, "Sunflowers."This is the second year in a row that Ann Richards students have won the state championship in this category.

The child care programs provide full day care for infants and toddlers of AISD staff and families at many campuses. The programs prioritize AISD staff for enrollment and when space is available the care is offered to other families in the community.
