Austin ISD African American and Hispanic third grade students identified as economically disadvantaged are on track to meet student growth targets in math by 2026. Achieving a similar goal in reading remains a work in progress, though, according to data from a new adaptive technology test.
Sunset Valley Elementary Teacher Receives $10,000 Grant from Rack Room Shoes
Smiles could almost be seen through masks at Sunset Valley Elementary School on Monday. That’s because Jessica Onyegam was recognized as a Rack Room Shoes Teacher of the Year. She was presented with a $10,000 technology lab grant for the school and a $500 Rack Room Shoes gift card for her. Principal Marizza Marquez says she is not surprised Onyegam was chosen for this award.
AISD 2021 Graduation Rates Up (en español)
Gap for African-American Students Ties Historical Low. Austin ISD’s federal graduation rates for all students edged higher for the Class of 2021—to 93.0%—and also showed a narrowing of the achievement gap between the graduation levels of African-American and Hispanic students relative to white students.
Diplomas for War Veterans
