Austin ISD Board Makes Election Day a Student Holiday (en Español)
This upcoming Election Day, Nov. 8, will be a student holiday for the current academic calendar year and the next, following a Sept.29 vote by the Austin ISD Board of Trustees approving the measure. What it means: In addition to being a student holiday, Election Day will be a professional development day for all staff for this school year and next.

Bowie Yearbook Gains National Recognition
The new year will be one for the books for Bowie High School. The “Lone Star Yearbook” was named as a finalist for two national awards: a Pacemaker from the National Scholastic Press Association and a Crown from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
Trustees approve Third Future Schools to turn around Mendez Middle School
