The winners of the Austin ISD Teachers of the Year and other recognitions were announced Thursday at Salute: A Tribute to Excellence. Sanford Jeames was named as the secondary teacher of the year, and Angie Baca-Ross was named as the elementary teacher of the year.

Oak Hill Celebrates 40 Years
Oak Hill Elementary School celebrated 40 years in its current building last week.“This is more than a celebration of our building. It's about our school's long history and spirit," said Principal Cathryn Mitchell. “Every student is involved. The entire community of past teachers, principals and students is part of this celebration.”
Veterans Day
This federal holiday started over 100 years ago, with November 11, 1918, seen as the end of 'the war to end all wars.'
