Oak Hill Presents School’s First Ballet Folklorico
Oak Hill Elementary School students will perform the school’s first-ever Ballet Folklorico for the student body as part of a Cinco de Mayo celebration at 2 p.m. Monday, May 5.The event will feature 20 students—boys and girls from various grades—performing traditional Mexican folk dances to music. AISD Names Edmund Oropez Interim Chief Schools Officer
AUSTIN, Texas—Austin ISD has named Edmund Oropez, the district’s associate superintendent of high schools, interim chief schools officer to lead, manage and support AISD’s more than 120 schools.Earlier this month, the trustees named Paul Cruz, the district’s chief schools officer for the past five years, as interim superintendent.

AISD Board of Trustees Approves Appointment of New Executive Director of Academics and Social and Emotional Learning
On Monday, Austin ISD's Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Elisabeth Goodnow to lead the Academics and Social and Emotional Learning teams. Goodnow most recently served as assistant superintendent for academics and schools at Cedar Hill ISD. In this role, she oversaw district implementation of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
84 AISD Seniors Earn Recognition in Presidential Scholars, National Merit Programs
This year, 84 students earned recognition for outstanding academic performance from the Presidential Scholars Program, the National Merit Scholarship Program, the National Hispanic Recognition Program, and the National Achievement Scholarship Program. Thirteen students earned recognition in more than one program.

AISD Celebrates Youth Art Month March 21-April 14
AUSTIN, Texas--More than 1,500 artworks representing 113 schools will be on display for the public at One Congress Plaza, 111 Congress Ave., for the next month as part of Austin ISD's Youth Art Month beginning this weekend.A reception will kick off the art celebration 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 23 at One Congress Plaza.
