Join the Austin ISD Team as a Substitute Pay increases currently effective

As of Nov. 1, Austin ISD has increased the pay for substitute teachers and teaching assistants, and is now accepting applications for the 2019-20 school year.

 

Benefits of being a substitute teacher include working as many days as desired, providing instruction on a variety of subjects, and working directly with students in a dynamic classroom setting. 

 

Rates of Pay

Permanent Substitute at Improvement Required (IR) campuses:

  • Flat Rate: $125/day

  • Must be Texas Certified Teacher

  • Must be interviewed and approved by the Substitute Office

Substitute Teacher Assignment Base Rate (As of Nov. 1, 2019):

  • 60+ College Hours: $85/day

  • Degreed (bachelor's, master's or doctorate): $90/day

  • Texas Certified Teacher: $95/day

Substitute Teacher Assistant Assignment Base Rate (As of Nov. 1, 2019):

  • 60+ College Hours: $85/day

  • Degreed (bachelor's, master's or doctorate): $90/day

  • Texas Certified Teacher: $95/day

  • H.S. Diploma, GED, or up to 59 College Hours: $80/day

Substitute Classified (Non-Teaching) Assignment Base Rate:

  • High School Diploma or GED: $70/day
