October is Cybersecurity Month! What better way to celebrate than by highlighting Austin ISD's efforts to empower students in the field of cybersecurity?

Going to school in Austin ISD gives students incredible opportunities like the P-TECH Cybersecurity Program at Northeast ECHS, where they can learn from leading industry partners and gain real-world skills.

 

Austin ISD Police celebrates new officers, new ranks (En español)

Three officers were sworn in and seven were promoted to either Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Assistant Chief on Oct. 14 in a ceremony at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center. 

  • Austin ISD Police Chief Wayne Sneed and Trustee Kevin Foster congratulated the officers as their families also joined in on the celebration.

  • Congratulations to all those who were promoted and thank you for all you do to keep us safe!

Exploring cost reduction strategies within Technology and Talent Strategy

The Joint Community Budget Committee delved deep into the budgets of the Technology and Talent Strategy departments at its Oct. 8 and 15 meetings. The committee continues its work to explore potential cost reductions and revenue opportunities. 

Here are the highlights from each department:

Technology

  1. The Technology department is currently working through efficiencies, such as moving to Google, which will save $500,000.

Travis Early College High School Groundbreaking Celebration

GROUNDBREAKING CELEBRATION:

Friday, November 8, 2024 | 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Travis Early College High School | Gymnasium

The groundbreaking will be celebrated with performances by Travis Early College High School students. Parking at the school is limited; we encourage carpooling and public transportation. Spanish interpretation will be provided at both events.

Coy Housing Development

The NRP Group will host a community meeting on Saturday, October 26th onsite at the Anita Ferrales Coy Facility, located at 4900 Gonzales St, Austin, TX, 78702, about the planned housing development. They will share an update on the project and seek feedback about the design.

Calendar Task Force Meeting

This meeting is virtual.

The AISD Calendar Task Force is charged with developing and recommending an instructionally sound calendar for the 2020-2021 school year that focuses on the District’s academic mission and Strategic Plan. The Task Force shall place the needs of all students first and foremost, but shall also consider the needs of parents, the community and district staff.
