A SHAC is a school board appointed advisory group of individuals who represent different segments of the community. By law, a majority of the members must be persons who are parents of students enrolled in the district and who are not employed by the district.
In honor of School Safety Week, we want to give extra attention to our Standard Response Protocols, including how campus administrators and Austin ISD police team up to keep your kids safe.
We have five types of SRPs that are activated in the case of a critical incident on our campuses: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter.
A detailed view of the district’s Prop A compensation plan is now available.
Why it matters: We want our staff and voters to know exactly how Prop A dollars would be spent as they head to the polls.
The details: 85% of all Austin ISD regular, benefits-eligible staff will receive pay increases if Austin voters approve Prop A.

The AISD Calendar Task Force is charged with developing and recommending an instructionally sound calendar for the 2020-2021 school year that focuses on the District’s academic mission and Strategic Plan. The Task Force shall place the needs of all students first and foremost, but shall also consider the needs of parents, the community and district staff.

In honor of Dyslexia Awareness Month, Superintendent Matias Segura made a special visit to Palm Elementary School to recognize Dyslexia Interventionist Jessica Gomez with a Golden Rave Award!
The details: Gomez has been part of Austin ISD for 21 years and goes above and beyond to provide specialized instruction and resources that help her students succeed.
General Marshall Middle School will be hosting an open house from 5–7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 for existing and potential future Marshall Rams to learn more about the exciting opportunities Marshall has to offer including Dual Language, Fine Arts, STEM-Focused Career and Technology Education, Advanced Academics and AVID.
Austin ISD will also share an update on the school’s enrollment trends and discuss the possibility of establishing an assigned attendance area for the 2026–27 school year.
