Calendar Task Force Meeting

This meeting is virtual.

The AISD Calendar Task Force is charged with developing and recommending an instructionally sound calendar for the 2020-2021 school year that focuses on the District’s academic mission and Strategic Plan. The Task Force shall place the needs of all students first and foremost, but shall also consider the needs of parents, the community and district staff.

Austin Ed Fund awards $450K in ‘Inspire the Future’ grants to Austin ISD teachers (En español)

Congratulations to the 66 recipients of the 2024 Inspire the Future Grants by the Austin Ed Fund!

Why it matters: These grants empower educators to bring innovative ideas to life, enhancing classroom literacy, improving educator experiences, and creating pathways for college and career opportunities.

Background: Since 2015, the Inspire the Future program has invested over $2.5 million into 500 teacher-driven projects.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October Is Cybersecurity Awareness Month

“Since 2004, the President of the United States and Congress have declared October to be Cybersecurity Awareness Month, time dedicated for the public and private sectors to work together to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity.

Free gun locks now available through Austin ISD Police (En español)

Austin ISD families and community members can now get free cable-style gun locks to ensure safe gun storage at home through a partnership with Project ChildSafe. 

Why it matters: Keeping firearms stored safely at home or in vehicles is an essential aspect of gun safety. Practicing safe storage habits can go a long way in preventing tragedies and keeping firearms out of the wrong hands.

Austin ISD Bond creates safe, secure entrances to schools (En español)

Austin ISD built 28 new secure entry vestibules over the summer as part of the 2022 Bond 

Why it matters: These secure entrances ensure all visitors are checked in and enter through the front office, increasing safety and security on campus. 

How we got here: The $2.4 billion 2022 Bond from taxpayers funds innovative learning environments through 25 full or phased campus modernizations, four open-concept renovations and targeted projects at all other campuses.

Free Gun Lock Requests

Austin ISD families and community members can now get free cable-style gun locks to ensure safe gun storage at home through a partnership with Project ChildSafe.  As a Project ChildSafe location, the Austin ISD Police Department received 500 gun locks to distribute in the community. Supplies are limited and we can provide up to three gun locks per person.
