Austin ISD will have school on Monday, Feb. 6. For most campuses, this will be a regular school day. 

As of 1 pm on Saturday, seven elementary schools remain without power: 

Andrews;
Hill;
Joslin;
Perez;
Pillow;
Ridgetop; and
St. Elmo.

We’re working closely with the city of Austin to prioritize repairs at our campuses, and we’re planning for each of these schools in the event that we’re not able to have the campuses operational by Monday morning.

Bad weather make-up days

Austin ISD built enough instructional minutes into the school calendar to account for the bad weather closures last Tuesday and Wednesday. We will join many other Central Texas districts in requesting a waiver from TEA for the closures on Thursday and Friday. If the waiver is approved, no planned holidays will need to be used to make up this time.

We know that access to healthy food may be challenging when the district is closed. Families can use the community resources below to find free meals in their area while Austin ISD offices and schools are closed:

Austin ISD will remain closed Friday, Feb. 3. We continue to assess the damage to our campuses and are also aware that many families and employees are still without power. 

Operations and campus staff are addressing the issues at our schools, and we expect to return to a normal schedule on Monday, Feb. 6.

Because of continued inclement weather and power outages throughout Austin and the surrounding areas, all Austin ISD schools and offices will remain closed tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 2. 

District officials considered a late start, but we wanted to ensure students and families could be safe getting to school, and while at school. In addition, we need to assess the condition of campuses and play areas from storm damage and lack of power. 

In light of that, we determined that the safest option was to keep all offices and schools closed for another day.
